All standard midwifery care, including postpartum home visits, is fully covered by MSP.

Do I need a family doctor if I have a midwife?

No. For a healthy pregnancy and postpartum, your midwife provides all routine medical care. If something extra is needed, we coordinate referrals.

Do I need a pediatrician?

Not usually. We monitor your baby’s health and refer to trusted pediatricians only if special care is needed.

Is jaundice normal?

Yes, especially in South Asian babies. We assess it at every visit, track bilirubin levels, and coordinate treatment if required.

Can you help with breastfeeding pain?

Absolutely. We assess latch, positioning, nipple pain, and can refer to lactation consultants if needed.

Can a midwife prescribe medication?

Yes. Registered Midwives in BC can prescribe medications related to postpartum recovery and breastfeeding.

Do you perform circumcision?

What does it cost?
All standard midwifery care — including postpartum home visits — is fully covered by MSP.

My midwife wants to transfer my care. Will you accept me during the late term?

We do accept some clients who have risked out of midwifery care, but this is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Every situation is reviewed carefully so we can confirm that our team is able to offer the right level of care and support for your needs.

All transfers must meet specific safety requirements before being accepted. This involves a detailed look at your current health, medical history, and any factors that might need more specialized or higher-level care. Our priority is always the safety and well-being of both you and your baby, and every decision we make reflects that commitment.
